New nomenclature, driveaway pricing, added equipment for refreshed Renault CapturGallery Click to see larger images 20 Sep 2017 RENAULT has updated its Captur small SUV range, introducing driveaway pricing, upgrading interior specification and changing variant nomenclature to reflect the naming conventions of its Clio, Megane and Koleos stablemates. The Captur range will continue to consist of two model grades – now named Zen and Intens – and while the sticker prices of the two Zen variants have increased by $490 compared to their previous costs before on-roads, as well as the Intens by $990, the range is now offered with permanent driveaway pricing. Kicking off the line-up is the six-speed manual Zen from $23,990, while opting for the six-speed dual-clutch auto costs $26,990. The range-topping Intens dual-clutch is the most expensive offering at $30,990. Visual changes include the addition of C-shaped LED daytime running lights on the base Zen model, which comes with rear parking sensors and a rear-view camera. It also includes a 7.0-inch touchscreen with Bluetooth connectivity, auto folding mirrors, removable seat covers and 16-inch alloy wheels. Stepping up to the Intens adds hands-free parking, blind-spot warning, panoramic sunroof, dark leather upholstery, sat-nav, LED headlights and foglights, Arkarmys sound system and front and side parking sensors. The range-topper is also differentiated by 3D C-shape tail-lights, front and rear skid plate styling elements, chrome front grille and boot lid strips, tinted rear windows and tailgate and 17-inch alloys. Renault’s extended grip control feature is also included in the Intens, which offers three different driving modes consisting of on-road, off-road and expert, to optimise grip in various conditions. All variants come with two-tone paint including Atacama Orange, Cappucino Brown and Ocean Blue, with black or white roof paint. Also available is a no-cost ‘colour identity’ pack which matches the exterior paint colour on the air registers, speaker surrounds and centre console surround. Intens owners can also colour match the lower chrome door strip and alloy wheel centre caps. No changes have been made to the powertrains underpinning the Captur, consisting of a 66kW/135Nm 0.9-litre turbo-triple in the Zen manual and a 88kW/190Nm 1.2-litre turbo four-pot in the dual-clutch versions. The Captur has struggled to make a sales impact to the end of August this year, with Renault selling 179 units, down a whopping 84.2 per cent on the 1130 it managed to the same point last year. It is well off the pace of segment leaders such as the Mitsubishi ASX (12,259), Mazda CX-3 (11,931), Honda HR-V (7992) and Subaru XV (5599).
