Mini Cooper 5-Door priced for Australia

MINI has announced local pricing for its Cooper 5-Door range ahead of the models’ arrival in local showrooms towards the end of this year.

Price increases of up to $3790 are noted across the small-car line-up, with the entry point to the Mini Cooper 5-Door now from $43,990 plus on-road costs (see full pricing table below).

As reported by GoAuto previously, the new Mini Cooper 5-Door range is offered with a choice of 1.5-litre three-cylinder or 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engines, both fitted as standard an automatic transmission and front-wheel drive.

For Cooper C variants we note output figures of 115kW and 230Nm, the smaller displacement engine paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch to deliver a claimed 0-100km/h time of 8.0 seconds.

Larger displacement Cooper S variants deliver outputs of 150kW and 300Nm, again via a seven-ratio DCT and front-wheel drive, offers a triple-digit sprint standard of 6.8 seconds.

The Cooper 5-Door range measures up longer (+172mm to 4036mm) than before with more space between the axles (+72mm to 2567mm) than is the case for the three-door hatch. Width and height measurements are listed at 1744mm and 1464mm respectively.

Those figures also deliver more cargo space than before, the 5-Door offering 275 litres volume, or 65 litres more than the three-door. Flip the rear seats down, and that number grows to a healthy 925 litres.

Highlights of the Cooper C Core grade include 17-inch alloy wheels, autonomous emergency braking, cloth upholstery, cruise control, front and rear parking sensors, head-up display, LED headlights, reversing camera, wireless device charging, and a 9.4-inch OLED infotainment array with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity with six-speaker sound.

Stepping up to the Cooper C or Cooper S Classis and we find a 360-degree camera system, adaptive cruise control, augmented-reality satellite navigation, automated parking system, heated front seats, interior camera, lane centring assist, a panoramic glass sunroof, traffic sign recognition, and optional 18-inch alloy wheels.

Next up is the Cooper C or S Favoured trim grade which adds a black headlining, Favoured design elements (in Silver), leather-look upholstery, massaging and power adjustable John Cooper Works front seats with memory function, window tinting, and a 12-speaker / 365-watt Harman Kardon audio system.

Finally, the burger-with-the-lot Cooper S JCW Sport adds adaptive suspension, black or red body stripes, JCW sport brakes, JCW exterior styling, JCW sport steering wheel and interior styling, paddle shifters, and ‘Vescin and Cord’ black upholstery.

Mini Australia says stock of the Cooper 5-Door will begin arriving in local showrooms in the fourth quarter of the year.
