New models - Mahindra - XUV500Mahindra updates XUV500 medium SUVSeven-seat Mahindra XUV500 range gets model-year refresh from $26,990 driveaway10 Jun 2019 MAHINDRA has given its XUV500 seven-seat medium SUV a model-year facelift by increasing specification, lightly updating styling and introducing the new W10 variant, with prices now starting from $26,990 driveaway for the W6.
The point of entry to the range has increased by $1000, while the new W10 starts at $31,990 for the front-drive version (+$2000 over the outgoing W8) and the top-spec W10 AWD commands a $34,990 pricetag.
Some light cosmetic changes have been applied to the XUV500 range, starting with a redesigned grille with a larger chrome surround, updated headlights, foglights and daytime running lights, and a revised front bumper.
At the rear, heavily revised tail-lights, a new tailgate, blacked-out bumper, dual-exit tailpipes and a larger rear spoiler add to the XUV500’s visual appeal.
Additional chrome elements have been peppered through the interior on the scuff plates, centre console, air vents and steering wheel, while a new Arkamys sound system enhances the W10 and its 7.0-inch screen, while the W6 makes use of a 6.0-inch unit.
W10 versions also score a panoramic sunroof and push-start button.
The XUV500’s suspension, which has been co-developed with sportscar brand Lotus, has been altered for improved ride comfort and handling, which along with additional noise damping, results in improved noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) levels.
Hill hold, hill descent control and ESP with rollover mitigation have been included across the range.
Despite Mahindra saying it has made some refinements with a new turbocharger, power from the ubiquitous 2.2-litre turbo-petrol four-cylinder engine remains steady at 103kW/320Nm.
Power is delivered by a six-speed automatic transmission, driving either the front wheels or all four corners in the top-spec W10 AWD.
Mahindra is also planning a Euro 6-compliant engine for 2020.
Standard equipment on the W6 includes foglights, rear parking sensors, rain-sensing wipers, fabric upholstery, height and lumbar adjustable driver’s seat, 6.0-inch infotainment system with digital radio, multifunction steering wheel with cruise control, front and rear air conditioning, and 2500kg braked towing capacity.
Stepping up to the W10 bundles an electric sunroof, satellite navigation, reversing camera, leather seats, keyless entry, push-start ignition and illuminated scuff plates.
Six paint colours are available, including the new Crimson Red, Lakeside Brown and Mystic Copper.
The XUV500 comes with a five-year/100,000km warranty and four years of capped-price servicing.
