New models - Jaguar - XJ - rangeJaguar drops petrol XJ6Revised XJ range features new V8 and front-end facelift6 Nov 2007 JAGUAR has updated its XJ range, replacing its six-cylinder petrol engine with a small capacity V8. The large sedan has been face-lifted with mild external revisions, equipment upgrades and interior improvements. The 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine has been dropped for a 3.5-litre V8 that produces 190kW and 335Nm of torque. No changes have been made to the 2.7-litre turbo-diesel V6 or the supercharged 4.2-litre V8. Exterior changes for the 2008 XJ models includes a new, more aggressive grille and bumper, from quarter panel vents, new rear spoiler and rear bumper and fresh 19-inch alloy wheels for all models except the XJR. The interior changes include new seats that are said to both improve comfort and also free up more rear legroom, due to a more compact front seat design. All XJ models now feature Bluetooth phone connectivity. The diesel XJ6 remains at its current price point of $154,900 and is now the most affordable model in the range. With the $149,900 XJ6 gone, the cheapest petrol model is now the XJ8 3.5 at $159,900. The pricing for the other XJ models remains the same. That line-up includes the XJ8 4.2 at $174,900, the XJ8 4.2 long-wheelbase at $179,900, the XJR at $219,900, the Super V8 at $229,900 and the Super V8 long-wheelbase at $234,900.
