New models - Isuzu Ute - MU-X - Tour MateIsuzu MU-X Tour Mate returns, $74K drive-awayMU-X appeal boosted with Tour Mate targeting Isuzu buyers ready to tow and go bush1 Oct 2024 By MIKE STEVENS ISUZU Ute Australia has revived the MU-X Tour Mate package to join the D-Max Tour Mate twins that returned in August, adding a similar spread of “towing and touring ready” enhancements.
With upgrades valued at what Isuzu claims to be $9200 worth of extras, the $73,990 drive-away MU-X Tour Mate comes pre-loaded with a satin black steel bull bar, tow bar kit, 12-pin wiring harness, electronic brake controller, extendable compact towing mirrors and unique badging.
Effectively speeding up the fit and delivery process, the MU-X Tour Mate rolls “commonly selected optional accessories” into a new variant ready to go bush.
The MU-X boasts a 3.5-tonne braked towing capacity, and while the Tour Mate adds 102kg in accessories, it still offers more than half a tonne in payload capacity.
In detail, the Tour Mate comes fitted with a satin black steel bull bar with integrated parking sensors and LED fog lights.
A tow bar kit with a 50mm ball, a 12-pin wiring harness, and an electric brake controller enhance towing capability, while Clearview extendable, heated, and power-fold towing mirrors are also included.
Power is unchanged, delivered by a 140kW/450Nm 3.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel paired with a six-speed automatic transmission and part-time four-wheel drive.
A rear diff lock and Rough Terrain mode are also included, supported by an 800mm wading depth and 235mm of ground clearance.
Like all Isuzu Ute models, the MU-X Tour Mate is backed by a six-year/150,000km warranty and up to seven years of roadside assistance.
A ‘Service Plus’ customer care program is also offered, covering a five-year Flat Price Servicing program at $449 per year or 15,000km intervals.
The 2024 Isuzu MU-X Tour Mate is priced from $73,990 drive-away, which should prove appealing for eager off-roaders ready to spend beyond the $67,990 (drive-away) position of the flagship 3.0-litre MU-X LS-T upon which the Tour Mate is based.
Isuzu says the MU-X Tour Mate represents savings of between $9377 and $12,185, depending on the on-road costs required in the buyer’s state or territory.
