New models - Ford - TransitFord updates Transit Custom range for 2024Revision sees Transit Custom Sport van and double cab join Ford’s local workhorse portfolioGalleryClick to see larger images 25 Jan 2024 By MATT BROGAN FORD Australia is set to double its Transit Custom range Down Under with the announcement this week that the Transit Custom Sport van and Custom Sport double cab will join the portfolio for this year.
The new additions will be made available alongside the already confirmed Transit Custom Trend short- and long-wheelbase offering local business buyers what Ford Australia says is a range of vehicles that does not compromise on looks, comfort, or capability.
The updated Sport series range adds several handsome exterior styling elements including a unique body kit and sport stripes. The MY24.5 variant will be priced from $59,990 plus on-road costs in van guise and $62,990 +ORC for the double cab.
Pricing for the MY24.5 Transit Custom range sees significant increases of between $4600 and $6600 applied across the line-up.
The Ford Transit Custom continues to vie against rivals including the Hyundai Staria Load (from $46,240 +ORC), LDV G10 (from $37,358 drive-away), Renault Trafic (from $49,000 +ORC) and segment leading Toyota HiAce (from $48,886 +ORC).
Mechanically, the range is unchanged, continuing to draw motivation from a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine and eight-speed automatic transmission pairing driving the front wheels. Peak power and torque is rated at 125kW and 390Nm respectively.
The Transit Custom Sport double cab continues to provide a GCM of 5525kg and GVM of 3025, allowing more than a tonne of payload capacity and a maximum braked tow rating of 2500kg. It offers seating for five and remains available with the vehicle’s renowned low floor height and flat cabin floor.
Paint options for the range include Frozen White as a no-cost option alongside prestige hues Agate Black, Magnetic, Moondust Silver, Grey Matter, and Digital Aqua Blue. Van models are available with a lift-style rear door (+$700) in place of barn-style doors and the Transit Custom Sport with dual sliding doors without windows (+$1000).
Additionally, the load space of selected models may be air-conditioned (+$700) and is available with its own area monitoring system (+$1000). A digital rear-view mirror is also available with integrated dash cam.
Ford Australia says further details relating to the Transit Custom Sport and Custom Sport double cab range will be announced closer to the models’ release late in the third quarter of 2024.
