New models - Ford - Ranger - XLT 4X4 Double Cab Chassis
Ford adds 4x4 XLT Double CC to Ranger line-upExpanding Range(r): The addition of the 4x4 XLT Double Cab Chassis triplets takes the Ranger 4x4 line-up to 32 variants. Ford adds more variants to Ranger range with three new 4x4 XLT Double Cab-Chassis11 Sep 2020 FORD Australia has added even more variants to its seemingly ever-expanding Ranger line-up, with three new 4x4 XLT double cab-chassis variants taking the total number of XLT 4x4 offerings to eight.
Priced from $56,240 plus on-road costs, the 4x4 XLT double cab-chassis’ are pitched $1000 below their respective double cab pick-up counterparts and are being offered in both 3.2 manual, 3.2 automatic ($58,440) and 2.0 automatic ($59,940) guises.
As denoted by their corresponding 3.2 and 2.0 badging, the three newcomers are motivated by the familiar 147kW/470Nm 3.2-litre turbo-diesel five-cylinder and 157kW/500Nm 2.0-litre bi-turbo-diesel four-cylinder engines, paired to either a six-speed manual (3.2), six-speed automatic (3.2) or 10-speed automatic (2.0) transmission.
Ford says its reasoning for adding the new variants is to “bring customers greater choice” and personalisation within the range, with Ford Australia and New Zealand president and CEO Andrew Birkic adding they were the result of customer demand.
“Customers looking for Ranger’s high safety and equipment levels who want to add their own customised canopies or personalised tray set-up can now do so with far more ease,” he said.
“Owners have told us that they want to save time and money with a ready-to-go, high-spec Ranger cab-chassis that they can purchase straight off the showroom floor, and the 4x4 XLT double cab-chassis is here for these customers, be they tradespeople, adventurers or explorers.”
Just like the rest of the 4x4 XLT line-up, the double cab-chassis triplets come as standard with Ford’s switchable on-the-fly four-wheel drive system, 17-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone climate control, 8.0-inch infotainment touchscreen, DAB+ digital radio, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, sat-nav and the FordPass Connect embedded modem.
Standard safety kit likewise mirrors that of the other XLTs, including autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian detection and SYNC 3 with emergency assist.
Ford has ruled the 4x4 pick-up roost with 22,923 sales so far this year ending August, accounting for an even 24 per cent of the segment, rivalled only by the Toyota HiLux (20,263/21.2%).
