The local operator will compete against other F-Series right-hand drive converters, including Queensland-based Performax International, but Harrison F-Trucks claims to be the only company offering the complete 2015 range of Super Duty pick-ups and the smaller F-150. The entry price is for the 4x2 F-250 Super Duty regular cab powered by a 328kW/1166Nm 6.7-litre turbo-diesel V8 matched with a six-speed TorqShift automatic transmission. That same engine and transmission is in every F-Series Super Duty variant offered by Harrison F-Trucks which has imported the vehicles from the United States since 2011. Vehicle Development Corporation (VDC) provides the steering conversion and compliance. Higher-spec models include the F-350 with a towing capacity of 12.1 tonnes using a fifth-wheel/gooseneck set-up and a combined weight rating of 15.8 tonnes. The F-450 has 19.5-inch commercial-grade wheels and tyres, upgraded U joints and suspension components with new leaf springs, front and rear anti-roll bars and shock absorbers. Towing capacity is 14.1 tonnes with a gross combined weight rating of 18.1 tonnes. Five trim and equipment levels are available across the Super Duty line-up, but at the top of the range is the F-450 Black Ops Edition Dual Cab for $172,000. Harrison F-Trucks dealer principal Nic Harrison said the F-Series Super Duty pick-up offers tough, work-truck capability while also offering an alternative to buyers looking for a traditional premium SUV. “The 2015 F-Series Super Duty provides Australian businesses and primary producers with a new vehicle choice, one that carry up to six people in comfort and safety to their workplace while towing up to 15 tonnes all with the durability and reliability that has made the F-Series a true automotive legend,” he said. “At the same time it is a real alternative to the top-end SUV and four-wheel drives, capable of towing with ease the largest caravans and trailers, while providing luxury and features that rival its conventional competitors, along with space and a visual presence that could only come from a F-Series. “I believe that the combination of the new F-Series and Harrison F-Trucks will take the world’s best-selling vehicle, one that has been the benchmark for four decades, to a new level of success in Australia.” Harrison F-Trucks currently has an F-Series-dedicated dealership in Melton in Victoria and in Maroochydore, Queensland, with another facility planned for Sydney.
