New models - Elfin - MS8Elfin blows its topPower to burn: Newest Elfin's supercharged Gen III V8 offers 660Nm. Aussie sportscar maker Elfin releases a supercharged 350kW racer in Melbourne9 Mar 2007 ELFIN kicked off its golden anniversary celebrations by unveiling a limited-edition MS8 at this week's Melbourne motor show, including a one-off 350kW-plus supercharged bitumen-burner for the track. Just five 50th Anniversary collector’s cars will be built – priced from $128,500 in standard form (which is $8510 more than the standard MS8) – and each will have special contrasting premium burgundy trim (with monogrammed head restraints), polished alloy wheels and a unique "Cooper Gold" exterior colour. The latter was named in honour of Australian racing car driver Garrie Cooper, who founded back in 1957. Derived from Elfin’s new joint-venture partner Walkinshaw Performance, the supercharged version will cost another $12,000 and increases power from the 5.7-litre Gen III V8 to at least 350kW at 5600rpm. Peak torque will be around 660Nm at 4400rpm. The V8 Elfin is already classed as one of the fastest-accelerating road cars in the world and the supercharged car is expected to reach 100km/h in about three seconds. A new removable hard-top is also now available for Streamliner models. The hard-top is based on sketches by former Holden design director Mike Simcoe, who penned the original design for the Elfin MS8 models.
