New models - Audi - Q5 - Black EditionAudi SUVs gain limited Black Edition gradesExtra equipment, pricing for Audi’s unique-looking Q5, SQ5, SQ7 Black Edition SUVs23 Apr 2019 By TUNG NGUYEN AUDI Australia has introduced limited Black Edition versions to its Q5 and Q7 SUVs, available on 45 TFSI, 50 TDI and petrol SQ5 variants of the former, and exclusively to the high-performance SQ7 in the latter.
Differentiating itself from the standard range, the Black Edition variants gain dark highlights and boosted equipment to the tune of up to $17,000, according to Audi, with pricing up between $6200-$13,000 to reflect the changes.
Kicking off at $80,300 before on-road costs, the Q5 45 TFSI Sport Black Edition is $6700 more expensive than the grade upon which it is based, but bundles 21-inch black wheels, metallic paint, S line bodykit, illuminated front door sills, privacy glass, and high-gloss black exterior trim accents, mirrors and roof rails.
Inside, the Q5 Black Edition features a 30-colour ambient light package, heated front seats and a flat-bottom steering wheel totaling “more than $12,000 in additional features”, according to the Ingolstadt car-maker.
The diesel-powered Q5 50 TDI Sport Black Edition also gains the same exterior and in-cabin appointments, however the inclusion as standard of heated front pews in the donor variant means pricing only creeps up $6200 to $90,900.
Meanwhile, the flagship $108,200 SQ5 Black Edition sits at an $8700 premium over the standard car, but includes $13,000 worth of extra gear such as a high-end Bang & Olufsen 3D sound system, head-up display and extended upholstery pack.
Finally, the SQ7 Black Edition features the largest jump in price, up $13,000 to $174,900, but also $17,000 worth of extra equipment, including 22-inch Audi Sport wheels, metallic paint, carbon-fibre mirror housings and interior accents, panoramic sunroof, diamond-pattern contrast stitched seats, and high-gloss black exterior highlights.
Performance remains the same across the Black Edition line-up, which includes a 185kW/370Nm 2.0-litre petrol engine for the Q5 45 TFSI Sport, 210kW/620Nm 3.0-litre turbo-diesel for the Q5 50 TDI Sport, 260kW/500Nm 3.0-litre petrol V6 for the SQ5 and a 320kW/900Nm triple-turbo-diesel V8 SQ7.
