New models - Audi - Q2 - SQ2Audi prices incoming SQ2 from $64,400 plus ORCsThe SQ2 combines elements of Audi’s most popular performance and family cars12 Mar 2021 AUDI Australia has revealed the local pricing and specification highlights of the inbound SQ2 hot SUV which will check into showrooms as of May, priced from $64,400 plus on-road costs – $12,000 upstream of the current 40 TFSI Quattro Edition #2 flagship.
Powered by a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine developing 221kW/400Nm, the SQ2 will go from 0-100km/h in a claimed 4.9 seconds thanks to the standard inclusion of all-wheel drive.
Transmission duties meanwhile will be catered for exclusively by a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Setting the new performance flagship apart from the rest of the Q2 range are a set of unique 19-inch alloy wheels, red brake callipers, Matrix LED headlights with dynamic indicators, quad tailpipes and a more aggressive bodykit.
The sporty theme is continued within the cabin too with diamond-stitched Nappa leather sports seats adorned with embossed S logos, S sport leather steering wheel, S-specific display for the 12.3-inch Audi virtual cockpit and ‘light graphics inlays’.
Other standard features include a 705W Bang and Olufsen premium sound system, automatic high-beam, S sports suspension (20mm lower), five drive modes, black headliner, MMI infotainment system, automatic climate control, WiFi hotspot, Audi smartphone interface, Audi phone box and myAudi app compatibility.
Using the S3 hatch and sedan as a basis, Audi Australia managing director Paul Sansom said the local demand for SUVs and love of performance cars had spurred the SQ2’s introduction.
“The Audi S3 has a revered place in Australian performance car folklore,” he said.
“Its combination of agility, energetic performance, versatility and price positioning place it within reach of many enthusiasts – such is its proven popularity over the years.
“In line with a general shift towards SUVs in Australia, including performance models, the Audi SQ2 arrives with substantial opportunity.
“We’re confident that its combination of pace and poise will see it emulate the success of other iconic S models throughout the Audi range.”
Audi has sold 256 Q2s so far this year ending February, accounting for 7.2 per cent of the $40,000-plus small SUV segment, a segment it shares with the bigger and more popular Q3 (738/20.7%).
