New models - Audi - A5Audi adjusts pricing, spec for A5 45 TFSIPrice cut plus $9000 of additional value for Audi A5 45 TFSI coupe and Sportback7 Aug 2019 AUDI has reshuffled pricing and specification for the 45 TFSI variants of the A5 medium car range, introducing a claimed $9000 of extra equipment while dropping the price by $2800.
The price of the A5 45 TFSI Coupe and Sportback has dropped from $81,700 plus on-roads to $78,900, while the Cabriolet version has come down from $95,200 to $92,400.
The 40 TFSI variants carry over unchanged at $70,100 and $83,600 for the hard-top and soft-top versions respectively.
Along with the price changes, a number of equipment changes have been introduced. Inclusions are the S-line exterior package, 19-inch alloy wheels, memory function for the driver’s seat and side mirrors, phone box light with wireless charging, heated front seats and dual USB outlets for rear passengers.
Extra safety equipment has also been included, with active lane assist, high beam assist, adaptive cruise control with traffic jam assist, park assist and a surround-view camera now standard.
No changes have been made to the 45 TFSI’s powertrain, a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol four-cylinder unit developing 185kW/370Nm, driving all four wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
The 40 TFSI versions use a detuned version of the same powertrain, set up to deliver 140kW/320Nm.
Audi Australia product planning and pricing director Shawn Ticehurst said the A5 coupe was an Audi design icon that perfectly fit the brief of a contemporary sports coupe.
“On the other hand, the five-door Audi Sportback concept offers similarly distinct styling, sporty performance and a uniquely versatile body concept, luring buyers that might have traditionally looked at a sedan instead.
“With this new pricing and significant additional equipment, the A5 45 TFSI quattro models are an even more compelling package that shine conspicuously in what is a very aspirational segment.”
Audi has sold 706 two- and five-door A5s through the first seven months of 2019, down from 866 recorded to the same point last year.
It has still outsold its primary competitor, the BMW 4 Series Coupe and Gran Coupe range, which has recorded 648 sales year-to-date.
