Abarth 695 Competizione updated, priced

ABARTH has updated and priced its 695 Competizione hot hatch for what may be the final time, the MY23 revision slotting in just before the arrival of the all-electric 500e due in local showrooms from next month.

Now priced from $37,900 plus on-road costs – a $1500 increase over the list price of its predecessor – the revised Abarth 695 Competizione features stacked, quad exhaust outlets as part of the model’s Record Monza sports exhaust, a new Racing Orange paint option, matte black dashboard, and a simplified option list.

The sporty three-door hatch is available as standard with a five-speed manual transmission or optionally with Fiat’s five-speed Duologic automatic manual transmission (AMT) for $2000 more. A Beats audio system and 17-inch black-finished Competizione alloy wheels (bundled) cost $1700.

Single tone metallic paint attracts a $650 price premium, while two-tone hues ask $1600.

Abarth offers the 695 Competizione in a choice of four solid paint colours, including Gara White, Racing Red, Racing Orange (new), Scorpione Black, and five two-tone paint colours, the four listed above in combination with a Scorpione Black roof, and Record Grey, again with a Scorpione Black roof.

Elsewhere, the 695 Competizione features 17-inch Monte Carlo alloys, yellow-paint Brembo brake callipers, Koni suspension front and rear, a hidden antenna, privacy glass, ‘Competizione’ and ‘695’ badging, and the aforementioned dual-mode exhaust.

The interior features highlights including 7.0-inch instrumentation and infotainment arrays, DAB+ digital radio reception, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, Abarth black fabrix seats with a ‘check’ design, Alcantara wrapped steering wheel with carbon-fibre-look details, and the aforementioned new-look dash.

Abarth continues to offer the 695 Competizione with its thrilling 1.4-litre turbo-petrol ‘four’, the unit developing a zesty 132kW and 250Nm.

The model is now available to order with showroom deliveries to commence next month – the same time as the 500e Turismo and Scorpionissima twins land priced from $58,900 and $60,500 plus on-road costs respectively.

According to the Italian importer, the 500e models are the most responsive and exciting in the brand’s celebrated history, each equipped with a front-mounted electric motor delivering 114kW and 235Nm, or enough to accelerate the vehicle from 0-100km/h in 7.0 seconds. Driving range is listed at 252km.

Abarth says that “electric is the perfect technology to enhance the driving experience by bringing better acceleration, greater balance, better handling, more stability, and better roadholding” – all massive claims given the competence of the much-loved turbocharged petrol predecessor.

Featuring a reproduction of the iconic Monza exhaust ‘roar’, via a cleverly engineered Sound Generator, the characterful hatch will be available in five vivid paint hues: Acid Green ,Poison Blue, Antidote White, Venom Black and Adrenalin Red.

Later this year, Abarth will introduce the limited edition 500e Scorpionissima to local showrooms – just 219 examples will be made available locally of the 1949 produced – with the ‘standard’ Turismo trim to follow in early 2024. Additional features include unique decals and a digital certificate of authenticity.

Each supports three different charging modes and is equipped with a CCS Combo Type 2 socket that enables both AC and DC charging. The maximum (DC) charge rate is listed at 85kW meaning it should be possible to charge the 500e’s 42kWh battery from zero to 80 per cent in around 35 minutes.

Highlights of the local specification include 18-inch diamond-cut titanium grey alloy wheels, Alcantara upholstery, and sports seats with contrasting double stitching.
