Paris show: Skoda nose how to tease new Fabia

TWO more teaser images of the 2015 Skoda Fabia have surfaced overnight revealing its new nose ahead of the light hatch’s debut at the Paris motor show in October.

Skoda used its international Facebook page to post the first official photo of its new Fabia on Wednesday this week, revealing a tightly cropped shot of its left-side headlight accompanied by the words: “Skoda Fabia, redefined. Are you ready to look it in the eye?” The latest two images only show small portions of the car, but from a new angle, and are taken looking down from above at the grille and the right-hand headlight.

The next-generation Fabia appears to have adopted the Skoda family nose consisting of the redesigned and repositioned Skoda badge, along with new grille and bonnet.

Gone is the broad chrome-effect strip along the bonnet edge which meets the grille, replaced by a narrower and sharper grille with a thin chrome-look defined one-piece frame.

The next-gen Fabia sports Skoda’s new simplified ‘winged arrow’ badge which is placed higher on a bonnet and has crisper lines creasing down its centre.

The front bumper has been redesigned, and the lower air intake has had its curves squared-off for sharp edges to its lattice-like design.

Fabia’s new headlights are sleeker and more angular and flow through into the grille for a more integrated look, unlike the previous Fabia.

The new-generation Fabia will arrive in Australia next year, but pricing and specifications is yet to be announced.

While the European market will have up to seven different engines to pick from, it is unlikely Australia will have that kind of broad choice.

The current Australian Fabia range has two engines in line-up – a 77kW/175Nm 1.2-litre four-cylinder turbo petrol in the 77TSI version, while the sporty RS variant has a 132kW/250Nm 1.4-litre supercharged-turbo petrol four.
