Vauxhall commences a (very) long-term teaser campaign for its all-new Astra8 Sep 2008 By TERRY MARTIN GENERAL Motors has commenced a teaser campaign for its forthcoming Opel/Vauxhall Astra, releasing sketches and incomplete images this week ahead of the small car’s world debut – not in Paris next month but Frankfurt in September next year. A release issued from the Vauxhall branch confirmed that the new-generation Astra would use technology from the larger Insignia – including a lane-departure warning system and adaptive front lighting – and will offer a range of new engines that improve low-end torque and reduce fuel consumption. The next Astra will also feature an all-new chassis. ![]() “The present Astra already combines a high level of technical substance and emotional styling, but with the new car we are taking a big step forward in both respects, while emphasising its sporting credentials,” said GM Europe design vice-president Mark Adams. The five-door hatch version will be shown in Frankfurt 2009, with the three-door version expected to emerge soon after.
