2011 Los Angeles Auto ShowA swathe of world debuts to headline the 2011 LA Auto Show16 Nov 2011 By MIKE COSTELLO in LOS ANGELES Multiple world debuts have so far been the highlight of the 2011 LA Auto Show - a reflection of the event’s growing prominence on both the North American and global stages. The number of new products revealed in California is indicative of the sales recovery in the US and flourishing levels of investment in new product from car-makers post-GFC. Among the headline acts at the show are an STI version of Subaru’s exciting new rear wheel-drive BRZ coupe, a two-door coupe version of Hyundai’s sleek Elantra small sedan, a turbocharged version of the Hyundai Veloster coupe/hatch and the all-new Infiniti JX seven-seat crossover. Porsche pulled a surprise out of the bag with the vicious Panamera GTS which it displayed alongside the new 911 revealed earlier in the year. Also present is a revised Volkswagen Passat CC four-door 'coupe' and a soft-top version of the scorching Jaguar XKR-S and a five-door version of Ford's hot Fiesta ST concept. The Blue Oval is also showing the refreshed Flex SUV and Mustang comnvertible for the US market, while arch-rival General Motors is displaying the Camaro ZL1 convertible, Cadillac XTS and facelifted Spark for the first time. Honda (new CR-V and Jazz EV), Jaguar (XKR-S convertible) and Volkswagen (CC) have also whipped the covers from new product, while a significant number of models will make their North American debuts. Californian-based start-up Coda Holdings, meanwhile, announced that it had commenced production of its self-titled EV sedan which is sourced from China. A spate of conceps revealed across the European shows earlier this year will appear on the other side of the Atlantic at LA, including the Jaguar C-X16, Kia GT, Land Rover DC100 concept and Volvo Concept You. Keep an eye on GoAuto for all the latest news on the show, which will be brought to you by our reporters both here and directly from LA.
