Seat delivers a bold new design language with its Bocanegra mini-car at Geneva

11 Mar 2008

SEAT presented its new mini-car at the Geneva motor show, displaying a bold new design theme.

While the Bocanegra won’t come to Australia, it does use the VW Group’s next-generation mini-car platform which will be employed under the new Polo.

The hot-hatch show car is powered by the VW 1.4-litre TSI turbocharged and supercharged petrol engine linked to a seven-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic.

It will become the only car in the mini-car class to run a dual-clutch automatic, although it is likely the new Polo will also be offered with the same engine and transmission.

140 center imageThe Bocanegra, which is Spanish for black mouth, was penned by Seat design director, Luc Donckerwolke, who used to head up design at Lamborghini.

It features a semi-transparent black front bumper surface that also covers the headlights.

A strong design crease runs down from corners of the headlights to the rear wheels, while another line runs from just behind the door-handles to the top of the tail-lights.
