Tomorrow marks the first day of Auto China, with the annual motor show this year held in Beijing.

So far, we’ve already seen a number of new models surface ahead of the show, most notably perhaps is the BMW M2 Competition, which will make its public debut on the show floor this week.

Taking on a hefty heart transplant, the hyper coupe sports a version of BMW's 3.0-litre twin-turbo straight six capable of a claimed 302kW of power and 550Nm of torque. Best yet? The German marque has confirmed that the wild 2 Series will indeed be coming to the Australian market.

We've also seen a number of concept cars ahead of their official unveiling at Auto China, including Haval's Wey X electric autonomous SUV and the Buick Enspire electric SUV.

Keep an eye on GoAuto for all the latest from the Beijing show, as it happens.

The annual Auto China motor show alternates between China's two major cities, and this year it is Beijing's turn to take the reins.

Last year's Auto China event in Shanghai saw BMW fill out its M4 range with anew CS model, and Mercedes-Benz updated its S-Class – bolstering its position as a technological class leader.

Australia-bound China-built products were aplenty, with the LDV D90 and T60, the MG ZS and Haval H6 on stand.

Conceptual show cars included the Jeep Yuntu, Chevrolet FNR-X and Volkswagen ID Crozz to name a few.
