Being Mk7 Civic-based, the all-new Mk-2 CR-V also ditched the front wishbone suspension for struts, with a big improvement in refinement and dynamic abilities.
It continued the tried and proven formula in a familiar, larger and heavier body – with a smoother and more powerful four-cylinder engine (118kW/220Nm 2.4) compensating.
There were now significant improvements to ride, handling, refinement and safety, pushing the part-time 4WD CR-V to the top of its class. ABS brakes were standard from late 2002.
