Volkswagen teases updated Tiguan Allspace

All the space: Bridging the gap between the regular Tiguan and the upmarket Touareg, the new Tiguan Allspace is expected to be made more Golf-like in its appearance.

Facelifted Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace gets teased ahead of its Q1 2022 arrival

6 May 2021

FOLLOWING February’s unveiling of the refreshed Tiguan line-up, Volkswagen is gearing up to launch the updated version of the seven-seat Tiguan Allspace with the global debut set for May 12 ahead of a first-quarter arrival Down Under next year.

Said to usher in refreshed styling, enhanced convenience features and more new-age technology including the MIB3 Infotainment system and a digital cockpit, the new Tiguan Allspace has been previewed through the release of single teaser image showing the updated tail-lights.

Adopting a new rear lighting signature, we can also expect the headlights to be treated to a similar makeover and if the regular Tiguan is anything to go by, a new, more Golf-like front fascia is likely to materialise.

Also visible in the image is the majority of the car’s flanks which look to have been largely untouched although redesigned alloy wheels should be something of a given.

Originally touching down here in July 2018, the Allspace was conceived as a bigger alternative to the regular Tiguan for buyers chasing something larger without having to fork out for a Touareg.

When it first launched here, Volkswagen Group Australia (VGA) executives expected there to be a reasonable 50:50 split of sales between the regular Tiguan and the Allspace, something that did not quite eventuate with the split being closer to 60:40 in both 2019 and 2020.

Engine options are likely to mirror the regular Tiguan line-up and consist of the familiar 110TSI, 132TSI, 147TDI and 162TSI petrol and diesel mills with the trim levels also likely to match its smaller sibling – Life, Elegance and R-Line.

So far this year VGA has sold 1686 Tiguan Allspaces to the end of April, outselling its smaller stablemate almost three times over.
