New Suzuki S-Cross coming to Aus in 2022

Suzuki gives its new-generation 2022 S-Cross small SUV a much more distinctive look

26 Nov 2021

SUZUKI Australia has confirmed that the new generation of its S-Cross small SUV will be launched in Australia in 2022, joining the line-up next to its facelifted Vitara sibling.

Although final specs have not been confirmed for this market, Suzuki Australia said the new model presented an opportunity to introduce features that “would be welcomed locally”.

Whereas the current S-Cross’s exterior styling is a somewhat awkward combination of a generic small sedan front end, MPV–like flanks and a typically crossover-like tailgate, the new model’s design is still characterised by add-on black cladding, but it looks bolder, chunkier, more upmarket and generally on trend with the small SUV segment.

The newcomer’s revised interior design offers improved ergonomics in combination with “ample space and comfort”.

Some of the standout features include the 9-inch infotainment touchscreen (ostensibly with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility), dual-zone climate control, front seat heating, a wireless charging pad and 360-degree camera system.

The Japanese brand says safety is at the forefront with the all-new S-Cross’s packaging, the Suzuki Safety Support technology suite incorporating features such as autonomous emergency braking, lane departure warning and prevention, weaving alert, blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert.

Mechanically, the new generation S-Cross is much like its predecessor, powered by a 1.4-litre direct injection turbo-petrol engine, which is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission and drives the wheels through Suzuki’s Allgrip Select 4X4 system.

Suzuki Australia general manager – automobile, Michael Pachota, described the introduction of the all-new S-Cross as critical for Suzuki's continued growth in the local SUV market.

"With the launch of the all-new S-Cross and its potential long list of upgraded features and specifications on safety, driver convenience and class leading value, there is no doubt we will continue to increase our presence in the growing SUV market," he said.

Further details regarding the Australian specification, features and pricing of the new S-Cross will be released closer to time of launch.
