Future models - Subaru - Liberty - GT tuned by STiSubaru's Liberty, tuned by STiSubaru winds up the wick of its Liberty GT Spec-B - and whacks an STi badge on8 Mar 2007 SUBARU unveiled a limited-edition (300 units) STi-specified Liberty, based on the 2.5-litre GT Spec-B model, at this week's Melbourne motor show. Although the show car is a prototype, the production version will gain an uprated GT Spec-B engine, developing 194kW at 6000rpm and 350Nm at 2800rpm, a 10kW and 11Nm lift over the standard GT Spec-B. In keeping with its performance attributes the Liberty STi gains 18-inch lightweight alloys, Pirelli P-Zero tyres, Brembo brakes, Bilstein sports-tuned suspension as well as revisions to the suspension components that deliver better steering response and improved ride and handling. Automatic models gain a revised transmission control unit for faster shifting, and an STi sports exhaust system has been added. Inside, the cabin gains alcantara trim, 14-speaker McIntosh audio system and Subaru’s switchable SI-Drive system. Prices start from $65,990 for the six-speed manual sedan and $67,990 for the manual wagon.
