Future models - Subaru - Impreza - WRC conceptSydney show: Subaru's imprezive racerImpreza world rally car concept whets appetitites for new STi's debut in two weeks11 Oct 2007 By TERRY MARTIN AS ITS Japanese parent prepares to launch the all-new STi Impreza at the Tokyo motor show on October 24, Subaru Australia has unveiled the next best thing – the Impreza World Rally Car “concept” which carries design cues for the STi. As well as treating motorsport fans, and trainspotters with its detail, the WRC car acts as an important buffer to Mitsubishi, which has this morning exhibited direct competitor and likewise long-awaited production cult classic, the Lancer Evo X. The STi hits Australian streets in the first quarter of 2008, not long after the revised Tribeca SUV arrives in December after a fast-tracked “mid-term” upgrade that was metered out after international condemnation of its exterior design. Yes, 12 months after its Darling Harbour debut the Tribeca has returned to centre stage with much better looks, a bigger (now 3.6-litre) six-cylinder boxer engine, recalibrated five-speed automatic gearbox, revised rear suspension and an improved third-row access mechanism. No pricing or specifications were provided at the official presentation.
