Future models - Renault - SymbiozFrankfurt show: Renault previews Symbioz conceptConnected Symbioz electric vehicle to influence Renault’s future product offerings5 Sep 2017 By TUNG NGUYEN RENAULT will unveil its vision of the future of mobility at next week’s Frankfurt motor show with the Symbioz concept vehicle to preview the technology of its electric and connected models to be released before 2030. While only a single teaser video has been released, the Symbioz’s rear quarter can be glimpsed and showcases the concept’s large wheels, sleek aesthetic and a bulbous rear end – the latter a possible homage to the iconic derriere of the second-generation Megane small car. The body of the vehicle appears smooth and nearly seamless, with the Symbioz concept likely featuring unique doors similar to its Trezor concept sibling which was unveiled at last year’s Paris motor show. Slim, wraparound tail-lights can also be seen promising a unique light signature from behind. Although little else is known about the Symbioz show car, the French brand said “this new concept addresses customer expectations in the future related to mobility and lifestyle, as well as environmental and urban challenges that lie ahead”. The Symbioz will likely feature a tweaked version of the aforementioned Trezor powerplant, which uses two batteries positioned fore and aft for optimum weight distribution and an output of 260kW/380Nm. Renault’s Frankfurt debutante will is also expected to feature autonomous and self-driving technologies, as well as connected systems to keep occupants, and the car, plugged in at all times. The name is also derived from an ancient Greek word meaning ‘living together’, which the car-maker says embodies its latest concept car as it “will function harmoniously and in permanent interaction with its environment, road network infrastructure and digital lifestyles of its occupants”.
