Future models - Peugeot - 4007New 1007, 4007 hopePeugeot says it hasn't given up hope on the sub-207 1007 and its first SUV, the 400730 Oct 2007 By PHILIP LORD PEUGEOT Automobile Australia is continuing to arm-wrestle Peugeot head office in Paris in order to obtain two new products for segments that the local distributor has never competed in before – the 1007 micro, which Peugeot says would need to be priced below $20,000, and the Mitsubishi Outlander-based 4007 SUV. Peugeot Oz has been talking about the introduction of the 1007 for two years, and to this point has been locked out by European demand for the car. The introduction of the new 207 to the Australian line-up has renewed the drive to get the entry-level Peugeot. “We really see with 207 moving upmarket with price and spec that we’ve left a gap, and so we want to fill that gap if we can,” said PAA chief Rob Dommerson. As for the 4007, he said: “We hope to get the 4007, but at the moment that is being built by Mitsubishi in a joint-venture, and again is limited production. “I am little disappointed that we haven’t seen that vehicle launched yet – it’s 22 per cent of the market that we’re not in. So we’ll certainly have some pressure on. And the pressure is reciprocal – Peugeot wants to see Australia do well.” Mr Dommerson does not believe that there are any issues regarding the two similar products competing in the same market. “We don’t have any issues with the Mitsubishi model – they are specified differently, they look different. I don’t think it’ll be a problem at all.” Read more:Peugeot's first-ever SUV not coming hereAll future modelsAlfa Romeo Abarth Alpine Alpina Audi Aston Martin BMW Bentley Chery Brabham Chrysler Chevrolet Cupra Citroen DS Dodge Fiat Ferrari Foton Ford Great Wall FPV Haval GWM Honda Holden Hummer HSV Infiniti Hyundai Jaguar Isuzu Kia Jeep Land Rover Lamborghini Lexus LDV Mahindra Lotus Mazda Maserati Mercedes-AMG McLaren MG Mercedes-Benz Mitsubishi Mini Opel Nissan Peugeot Pagani Proton Porsche Renault Ram Rover Rolls-Royce Skoda Saab SsangYong Smart Suzuki Subaru Toyota Tesla Volvo Volkswagen Motor industry news |
