Nilu27 Hypercar for Pebble Beach debut

Former Koenigsegg designer readies V12-powered Nilu27 Hypercar for public debut

8 Aug 2024

FORMER Koenigsegg designer Sasha Selipanov is putting the finishing touches to his Nilu27 Hypercar ahead of the model’s public debut at the upcoming Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in the United States.

The V12-powered Hypercar features a bespoke 6.5-litre engine built by New Zealand’s Hartley Engines, the unit mounted amidships with a seven-speed manual transmission.

Producing an astonishing 787kW at 11,000rpm and 859Nm at 7000rpm, the V12 also promises an intoxicating soundtrack from an exhaust system that is entirely 3D printed in Inconel.

Given the two-seat vehicle tips the scales at just 1200kg, the 0-100km/h claim of “less than 3.0 seconds” comes as no surprise – nor does its v-max of 400.7km/h.

The Hypercar features a carbon-fibre monocoque body over a tubular aluminium alloy subframe.

It is suspended by a double wishbone pushrod arrangement at each corner, supporting bespoke centre-lock wheels produced by Italian manufacturer AppTeach and shod with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tyres (325/30R21 rear and 265/35R20 front).

Braking is via Brembo-sourced carbon ceramic rotors said to offer “outstanding performance and fade resistance”.

Opening the gullwing doors reveals low sills, sunken seats, and analogue controls. The only screen is the rear-view camera/mirror which Nilu27 says “addresses the traditional weakness of mid-engine sportscars: the lack of rearward visibility”.

Speaking on the upcoming unveiling of the Hypercar, Nilu27 founder and CEO Sasha Selipanov said: “My path in the industry has never been about following rules and sticking to norms. I was never afraid to follow my intuition or chase my dreams.

“Breaking conventions is simply a byproduct. The same is true for Nilu: a hypercar that discards current trends and conventions in pursuit of an elevated automotive experience,” he added, insisting the Hypercar will not submit to electrification.

“While the world is moving towards electrification – and for very good reason – we firmly believe the timelessness of these cars will not only keep them relevant, but they will continue to find a place in the collections of passionate car lovers.”

GoAuto understands Nilu27 will produce an initial batch of 15 track-ready and 54 street-legal Hypercars – four of which will be bespoke built to customer order.

The car was unveiled to a select group of potential buyers and media at a private Los Angeles on August 8, with its public debut to take place on August 15 on the ramp at Pebble Beach.

It will then appear on the Concept Lawn at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance on August 18.

“Unveiling Nilu to the world is a dream come true, a moment so profound it is hard to express in words,” continued Mr Selipanov.

“The vision was the result of a decades-long search, sleepless nights, years of overthinking and over-analysing. I was fortunate to learn from and contribute to the industry’s best, now my team and I are thrilled to put all this vision and knowledge into action.”
