Future models - Kia - GTDetroit show: Kia uploads new GT clipThe Curve Ahead gets clearer with more images revealed on Kia GT siteGalleryClick to see larger images 22 Dec 2016 KIA has unlocked ‘Episode 03’ on its The Curve Ahead website with a video that offers new obscured views of the forthcoming GT rear-drive performance model, ahead of the official unveiling at the North American International Auto Show next month. A candid view of the car is yet to be revealed with the most recent clip limited to moody silhouettes and close-up detail shots, but the tantalising images do offer a fresh glimpse of the car’s decidedly coupe-esque profile and imposing stance. In the new footage, the as-yet unnamed car shows off its heavily sculpted and muscular bonnet complete with large vents, signature strip-illuminated headlights and tail-lights, and a muscle-car presence. Unlike Episode 02 which confirmed the enigmatic vehicle would be capable of cracking the zero to 100km/h dash in 5.1 seconds, the most recent video contains no figures or technical information other than repeating the reveal date of January 8. A flirting flash of chrome-tipped exhausts, big alloy wheels and low-profile rubber compound Kia’s efforts to promote the new vehicle as a sporty and driver-focused offering, while still allowing a degree of GT cruising comfort. Kia is not saying how may short videos the protracted and drawn-out hype campaign will extend to but Episode 04 is already cued up on the website and appears to continue the image drip-feed with the first hand sketches of the car. Technical information is yet to be made official in any form beyond confirmation that the car will seat at least four and have rear-wheel drive, but it is increasingly likely Kia’s GT will be powered by a high-output turbo V6 and not the previously speculated V8. The website offers only cryptic hints at vehicle details such as the scrolling banner that promises sleek sophistication, head-turning design and heart-pounding performance. In a previous video the car is shown cracking a speed of 244km/h at the esteemed Nurburgring raceway where the company shares a development centre with sister brand Hyundai, although a separate image on the website shows a speedometer passing the 290km/h mark.
