Another week, another Infiniti JX teaser pic

INFINITI has released the sixth and almost certainly final teaser image of the near-production JX ahead of its debut at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance on August 18.

As the lengthy drip-feed campaign draws to a close before the full reveal, a fairly clear picture of the potentially Australian-bound seven-seat SUV has emerged.

This latest image gives us a second look at the prominent four-bar chrome grille, with the brand’s now-trademark ‘pinched’ design.

This look was introduced on the brand’s memorable Essence coupe concept and was last week added to the facelifted mid-sized FX SUV which will be a part of the brand’s inaugural Australian line-up from September next year.

Other shots show that the JX will have the kind of curvaceous body design that has become the marque’s signature style, as well as narrow and aggressive headlights and tail-lights, and a ‘kinked’ rear window and C-pillar design.

We will have to wait until the exhibition at Pebble Beach to glean mechanical details and other specifications, but expect it to be larger than the Lexus RX-sized Infiniti FX five-seat SUV and more akin to the heftier Audi Q7.

As GoAuto has previously reported, the JX is on the agenda for a local release as part of a potential fresh wave of new models that could expand Infiniti’s initial three-model range during 2013.

Infiniti Cars Australia general manager Kevin Snell told us last month the JX would make an “excellent complement” to the FX and is “certainly on our radar, and we are working closely with Japan on the business case for a potential introduction after our initial launch phase”.

The company’s initial model range comprises the M-series large sedan, G37 sports series and the FX mid-sized SUV.

Other potential additions include next-generation versions of the G-series sedan and EX compact luxury SUV, while the brand also signalled its intention to create a compact luxury car with the Etherea concept from the Geneva show early this year.

Possibilities further into the future include a high-end sports car based on the jaw-dropping Essence concept – Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn is on record as saying he likes the prospect of an Infiniti supercar based on the GT-R – and a full-electric model that could be developed with alliance partner Daimler.
