Fresh styling, upgraded infotainment and advanced safety systems are highlights of the mid-life revision that – for the UK and Europe only – also includes a Sport variant with styling reflecting the upcoming hardcore Civic Type R sports flagship. The Civic Sport gets a black honeycomb grille to replace the previous two-blade fascia, along with restyled headlights with integrated LED running lights and a new bumper with finned air-intakes. A redesigned rear bumper, spoiler and side skirts complete the exterior update. The cabin gets new seat fabrics and headrest stitching, new door trims with chrome handles and a dashboard with a metallic black finish. Standard across the range is a seven-inch touchscreen and Honda Connect infotainment system with digital and internet radio, Bluetooth, rear-view camera and optional sat-nav. Safety has been upgraded with Honda City-Brake Active that automatically stops the car at speeds below 30km/h if the radar-based system detects a collision risk. As part of the new range for Europe, a Sport variant gets styling based on the upcoming Type-R. Included in the package is 17-inch alloy wheels a colour-coded bumper and a choice of engines – a 104kW/174Nm 1.8-litre four-cylinder petrol or 88kW/300Nm 1.6-litre four-cylinder diesel found in the previous Civic. Honda Australia told GoAuto the Sport derivative and wagon will not be sold locally, but the facelifted Civic hatch will arrive in the first half of 2015. While the current diesel and petrol powerplants will be carried over, new pricing and specifications are yet be announced. A revised version of the current British-built 2013 Civic hatch came in April this year and was followed by upgraded Thai-sourced Civic sedan in July.
