Future models - Daihatsu - D-Compact X-OverFirst look: Another sub-RAV4 from ToyotaMini-me-SUV: The X-Over takes the micro message further. Micro-car subsidiary presents Toyota with another mini-SUV to slot beneath RAV13 Sep 2006 DAIHATSU has revealed yet another micro-SUV ahead of its world debut at this month’s Paris motor show. Dubbed the D-Compact X-Over and developed in co-operation with ItalDesign, the latest Daihatsu crossover prototype features a huge glass sunroof that stretches from the top of the windscreen to behind the rear seat. To be presented alongside the European debut of a new Materia compact city car, powered by a 1.5-litre engine and to go on sale in Europe in early 2007, the X-Over follows the similarly-themed Urban Cruiser compact SUV concept revealed by Daihatsu at this year’s Geneva motor show. The five-door D-Compact X-Over joins the Urban Cruiser concept and Daihatsu’s redesigned Terios, which was launched in Japan in January as the Rush, as yet another possibility to join Toyota’s Australian SUV line-up as a sub-RAV4 micro crossover. Luxury brand Lexus will reveal the hybrid version of its new LS460 flagship sedan, the LS600h, but Toyota may also use Paris to reveal its next-generation Corolla due on sale here early next year and the production version of its 100kW Yaris T Sport concept.
