Future models - Audi - A6 - RS6 AvantFrankfurt show: Audi teases next RS6 AvantBerlin preview of RS6 Avant locked in for Audi Sport fans ahead of Frankfurt14 Aug 2019 AUDI has started its teaser campaign for what appears to be its new-generation RS6 Avant by sending this dusky image to members of its Audi Sport drivers club with an invitation to a private preview of this vehicle and probably more in Berlin just days before next month’s Frankfurt motor show.
Posted on Facebook, the image gives just enough clues to suggest the performance flagship version of the latest A6 Avant is just around the corner.
The high tailgate, humped rear fenders and striped taillights resembling the LED lights from the recently launched S6 Avant point to the new flagship that is expected to be one of six RS models coming from the Ingolstadt company this year.
Another of the impending new models – a large sports coupe with a hefty spoiler at the back – is shown on the Audi website page with details of the event at the Audi City Berlin dealership on September 5 and 6.
Translated from German, the invitation reads: “Exclusively for you as a member of the Audi Sport drivers club, we offer you a vehicle presentation of a special kind in an exceptional atmosphere.
“The Audi City Berlin offers an excellent platform to introduce you to the new spearhead of Audi Sport in the upper class in closed society. Just a few days before the start of the International Motor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt, experience the presentation of a high-performance avant-garde.
“The fourth generation of vehicles not only sets new highlights in the interior and exterior, but also sets itself apart with new innovations paired with a sporty, progressive driving experience.”
The invitation goes on to say that a product manager from Audi Sport would be at the event and “happy to answer any questions you have about the vehicle”.
The event will be closed to the general public, and Audi Sport drivers club members have been told to book ahead.
Most likely powered by Volkswagen Group’s 4.0-litre petrol V8, the new RS6 Avant has been spotted testing widely in Germany, including at the Nurburgring.
European reports suggest an electrified version with even more power – about 522kW – is also in the pipeline.
Assuming it is made available to Audi Australia, it is unlikely to arrive in local showrooms until next year to join the standard A6 that was launched here just two weeks ago, as well as the S6 that is set to debut in early 2020.
