Super TestCar reviews - Skoda - Octavia - Scout 5-dr wagonSkoda modelsOverviewSkoda lifts the Octavia 4x4 to create its idea of the crossover wagon: the Scout18 Sep 2008 SKODA doesn't have an SUV and was missing out on a growing section of the market. Its solution? It took its existing Octavia 4x4 wagon and gave it a fiddle. By jacking up the ride height by 40mm, adding powertrain protection, tweaking the suspension and adding revising the bumpers, Skoda suddenly had a crossover wagon to sell. It called it the Scout, although there isn’t a dib-dib-dib or dob-dob-dob in sight. There is one Scout model - a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel with a six-speed manual transmission for $39,990, leaving the one major drawback as the lack of an automatic transmission.
