Road TestCar reviews - Porsche - Cayman - PDKPorsche modelsOverviewSublime in almost every way, Porsche's entry Cayman is all the coupe you need2 Sep 2013 PORSCHE’S Cayman two-door coupe was a revelation when it was launched seven years ago. Compact, mid-engined, lithe and engaging, the tin-topped Cayman has always reversed the cheap coupe, expensive cabrio norm and commanded a price premium over its rag-top sibling, the Boxster, with which it shares much of its DNA. It has evolved well, since today’s entry-level Cayman is as powerful as the bigger-engined Cayman S back when the sportscar was launched, yet costs much less thanks to wide-reaching price cuts introduced across the range back in April that cut almost $40,000 off the price of some models. For the Cayman, it was close to $9000. Longer, lower, lighter and more powerful than all the generations before it, this model sets a new benchmark, not just for Cayman, but for every Porsche wannabe car brand out there.
