NISSAN'S Pathfinder has always been a handy medium-size four-wheel drive, able to do most things big-brother Patrol can do. It is handier on the road than a large 4WD yet still adept off-road and has a reasonably large interior, albeit without a third-row seat. A new selectable on-road 4WD system makes it an even better all-rounder and extra equipment makes both the base model ST and up-spec Ti better value.

Nissan Pathfinder
Released: Nov 1995
Ended: Jan 1999
Family Tree: PathfinderThe Pathfinder needed something better than four cylinders from the beginning and finally got a 3.2-litre V6 - plus two extra doors - in 1995. A step down from the Patrol in size and slightly "softer" with independent front suspension, the Pathfinder is still spacious and very capable off-road.
