UNTIL now, Mercedes-Benz has watched customers shuffle off to Audi, BMW, Land Rover and more recently Lexus because its GLK mid-size luxury SUV was not built in right-hand drive.
The GLC changes all that with a vehicle promising to take everything good about the hot-selling C-Class sedan, wrap it up in a high-riding SUV format and watch those customers flock back.
It seems to be working. In its first full month on sale in Australia, the GLC outsold the C-Class by more than 30 units and stole a dominating 33.2 per cent share of the premium medium SUV segment.
After a week living with a mid-spec GLC250, we are convinced those enthusiastic early adopters will not be disappointed.
