By early 2017, the Australian E-Class range will have blossomed to seven variants including a hybrid and the first AMG E43, which is expected to be followed by the full-fat E63 version, but Mercedes has introduced the range with the more affordable end of the spectrum. We got behind the wheel of two four-cylinder E-Class variants to see if a hearty price increase over the outgoing version has been offset by a boost to standard equipment, safety, comfort and performance, as its maker claims.
