The Evoque Convertible might seem to be designed to evoke an opinion, or provoke an argument, given that soft-top off-roaders have tended to be the reserve of a Suzuki Vitara or Toyota RAV4, although the Jeep Wrangler dabbled in the concept. For Land Rover loyalists, a fashion-focused four-wheel drive with a fabric roof could be a step too far. All of which matters nought now. This baby Range Rover has been a huge success for the brand, but a duo of questions remain up for analysis with this new body style: has the Evoque Convertible been properly engineered to mix soft-topping with off-roading and is the circa-$15,000 pricing impost over the hard-top worth it for a seemingly humble four-cylinder petrol and diesel offering that now starts from $85,000?
