Such is the lot of the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT range, joined here by an optioned-up limited-edition sibling known as the Night. It is, after all, a three-tonne SUV that can rattle off 0-100km/h in under five seconds and run a 400m sprint in 13.1 seconds. It howls like a werewolf that’s been stung by a wasp, and it wouldn’t look out of place at the scene of a drive-by. And yet, there’s an odd rightness about this very epitome of political incorrectness, and Australian buyers love anything that’s fast and frivolous.
