Super TestCar reviews - Chrysler - Neon - LE sedanChrysler modelsOverviewBigger and better, the Neon Mk2's only real blight is its outmoded three-speed auto29 Mar 2001 VERY identifiably a Chrysler Neon, the imported American small car has been extensively reworked in its latest PL2000 guise. About the only serious hangover from the first Neon is the inadequate three-speed automatic transmission. Where the car scores over its predecessor is in interior quality, suspension refinement and increased passenger space. All this makes the Chrysler a competitive small car, whereas its predecessor struggled to match the standards of its peers. The good looks are now backed up by a sense of overall competence. The styling was on the mark but the dynamics weren't quite - particularly the three-speed auto gearbox. The 2.0-litre, 98kW, four-cylinder engine was quite effective however - if a little noisy. |
