1 Oct 1986
October 1986 saw the introduction of the SA Series II Swift.
A sleeker nose, more features and better crashworthiness were the most obvious changes, while the ride improved as a result of a new coil-spring rear suspension, which ousted the old-fashioned leaf-spring set-up.
Suzuki added a spirited 74kW 1.3-litre twin-cam 16-valve three-door model called the GTi.
Its standard features included front fog lights, cloth trim, power windows and a radio/cassette player.
At the same time Suzuki phased out all other Swift models, save for the three-door GA 1.0.
