Audi entered the growing premium compact-SUV segment in 2012 with the release of the stylish Q3.
The Q3 quickly became the biggest seller in the Audi range, which was not altogether surprising given the rapid growth of that segment.
Competing with the likes of the Range Rover Evoque, BMW X1 and even the Mini Countryman, the Q3 had a sharper, more edgy design than its bigger Q5 sibling.
Although it shared a platform with the Volkswagen Group’s other compact SUVs, the Skoda Yeti and Volkswagen Tiguan, the Q3 was designed and engineered by Audi as a separate vehicle.
Two turbo-diesel engines and two turbo-petrol engines were available at launch, with the 2.0-litre TFSI petrol opening proceedings.
