The B4 80-based Cabriolet outlived its donor sedan by almost five years locally, no doubt helped by association with one Princess Diana Spencer.
Australians only saw a single specification model, with front-wheel drive and a 110kW 2.6L V6 engine mated to a four-speed automatic transmission.
Standard features included a driver’s airbag, anti-lock brakes, leather, an electric hood, power windows, alloy wheels, CD player and cruise control.
A detachable steel roof was optional.
In December 2002 an A4 Cabriolet belatedly replaced this car in Australia.
